SKIN RESURFACING

THE CO2 LASER FOR WRINKLES

What Is Cosmetic Skin Resurfacing?

Cosmetic Skin Resurfacing is a surgical procedure that removes the uppermost layer of the skin with the CO2 laser. Unlike other means used previously, the CO2 laser, combined with computer control can remove thin layers of skin to a controlled depth, enabling new skin to heal and regenerate without any scarring. The deeper layers of that skin treated by the CO2 laser, containing collagen and elastic layer is stimulated to form amore organized, thicker and healthier layer. It is collagen and elastin that gives our skin its smooth, healthy and, youthful texture. As we age and are exposed to the damaging rays of the sun, smoking and our genetic predisposition to aging, collagen in our skin degenerates and wrinkles form. New collagen formations resulting from the laser resurfacing smooth the wrinkles and restore a youthful appearance to our skin when it heals. Years of age-related changes and sun damage are literally wiped away with the CO2 laser.

What Type Of Wrinkles Can The CO2 Laser Improve?

The CO2 laser very effectively removes fine wrinkles around the entire face up to the jaw line. Eyes, mouth such crow's feet and those unsightly vertical lip lines, wrinkles above the upper lip. very deep furrows do soften. The CO2 laser can improve pigmentation, age spots, acne scars and pits, and a wide variety of other blemishes with very pleasing results. To some extent it can tighten lax upper eyelids and baggy lower lids, which compliment other procedures.

What Happens After Cosmetic Skin Resurfacing, and the healing process?

After one week, the new skin is back covering the resurfaced area; make-up can be applied over the treated area. The new skin is red. This redness gradually improves over time. Post-operative redness in the treated area generally persists for four to six weeks after surgery, although it can last up to three months. The final results of the treatment are usually evident after three months.
