Am I a candidate for cosmetic
surgery?
Cosmetic surgery
is to enhance body appearance and improve body image. The surgery
and expectations should be realistic and achievable. Cosmetic
surgery is available to candidates of all ages and is considered
safe as long as there is no serious medical condition which precludes
an elective cosmetic procedure. Therefore being frank, thorough,
and truthful during the history and examination period of the
consultation is of utmost importance. Any surgery has a potential
risk associated even in healthy individuals. Understanding and
discussing potential risks and complications is part of the initial
visit to help you determine if that specific surgery is for you
or not.
What should I expect from
the surgery?
It is normal,
healthy, and desirable to look our best. If we feel good about
ourselves and our body image we project
that feeling to others around us. Improve self image and self-esteem
has a positive effect on our lives. The entire surgery is performed
by Dr. Shureih. Though there will be assistants to assist in the
surgery . Anesthesia is administered by a qualified anesthesia
team composed of doctors and nurses. Your anesthesia will be discussed
with you by the anesthesia team at the hospital or surgical center.
Local anesthesia is given by Dr. Shureih.
Where is the surgery is
performed?
The aesthetic
surgery is performed at an accredited hospital or an accredited
surgery center. The choice of location is the patients. Some hospitals
and surgical centers have special low rates for cosmetic surgery.
This will make the surgery more affordable to you.
How long is the Recovery?
You should expect
swelling and bruising of varying degrees. Some patients swell
and bruise more than others. Most of the swelling and bruises
are faded by the second week. Back to work usually by the second
week and completely faded bruises by the end of the third week.
Follow up visit is typically within a few days after the surgery.
Should an emergency arise, the office and Dr. Shureih are available
to you 24 hours a day. Physical activity is prohibited during
the first 72 hours after surgery. You will be able to resume normal
activity within a week from surgery and back to athletic activity
in three weeks. You may start driving when it is comfortable to
do so, and you are no longer on pain medication. Dr. Shureih,

Computer Imaging?
Pictures are
taken to help in the analysis of the face or body and the harmony
of facial features and body measurements. Computer imaging loads
photographic images into the computer. These images can be manipulated
to simulate the result of the surgery. The computer imaging will
assist you and Dr. Shureih communicate and objectively decide
a realistic surgical goal. This will assist the patient decide
whether the proposed surgery meets their expectations.
