Facial Implants
Face > Facial Implants
Facial implants are used to create harmony and balance to the face. Implants can enhance certain features of the face. Implants are made of various materials, the most common of these is silicone. Facial implants can enhance the check bones, the chin or the jaw line.
CHEEK IMPLANTS
There are a variety of malar (cheek) implants available of different shapes and sizes. The different variety will enhance different parts of the cheek. These include the cheek bone area, the hollow area below the cheek also called the submalar implant. Cheek implants are placed on top of the bone in the area to be accentuated and enhanced. Exact placement is of paramount importance to avoid injury to other structures and to avoid asymmetric abnormal look.
Implants are placed through a small incision inside the mouth in the sulcus of the cheek. The pocket created is an exact fit to the implant and avoid injury to the nerve and muscles originating in the cheek bone.
CHIN IMPLANTS
Chin implants are designed to fit the boney contour of the chin.
Chin implants usually extend beyond the prominence of the chin to act and look harmonious to the contour of the chin.
The approach to insert the implant can be either through the mouth inside the lower lip sulcus or in the skin below the chin in the natural crease of the chin.
Both approaches must elevate the covering of the bone along with the small muscles arising from the chin area to avoid injury and subsequent deformity.
These implants are used to bring harmony and balance to the nose chin area.
MANDIBLE IMPLANTS
Implants are available to enhance different parts of the lower jaw, including the angle of the jaw or the body of the jaw.
Mandible implants give better definition to the jaw lines.
